Semi private training an effective and affordable way to take your sports performance training to the
next level. Our typical Semi-private training has individuals in small groups of 2-8 people training alongside each other.

At Wake Barbell we believe that each personal is built uniquely and therefore each person has individual goals and needs that need to be addressed. In our semi-private training environment a person will follow their own personal program, in a small group that could include a teacher, a CEO, a doctor or another athlete from a different sport or school.

At Wake Barbell we believe in personally designing the program for our clients. We do not shop out our programs because we believe that the person coaching should know what each individual needs. These needs are based on an extensive evaluation and assessment process that involves a movement screen, posture analysis, injury history and basic needs analysis.

During a typical training session, an athlete will be under the watchful guidance of a well-trained strength coach who can assess and correct any technical issue that may arise during a training session. At Wake Barbell we believe in movement before load and therefore a well trained eye is need to make sure that no harm is brought to the athlete. This is why we say, “If better is possible, good is not enough.”

Functional Fitness Classes—ACTIVE


Our ACTIVE classes are our functional fitness classes that are designed to help you move better, perform better, and increase your overall GPP (General Physical Preparedness) while at the same time giving you the fun atmosphere of a small group setting.

At Wake Barbell quality movement is a high priority for us and that all begins with an in depth movement screen, posture analysis, injury history and ready to go assessment. These components help us know where the athlete is and what kind of progression they need to begin with when it comes to strength and conditioning so as to reduce the occurrence of injury.

The ACTIVE class is a structured, periodized program that teaches and develops technique in the Base10 which are the basic movement patterns of the squat, hip hinge, push, pull, carry, locomotion (run/sprint), throw, jump and crawl. All of these movements we believe are foundational to being able to move better and live better and so we teach some aspect these movements in every program that we design. Along with these, we teach the fundamentals of Olympic weightlifting for the athletes that show the movement competency for them. We believe that the Olympic lifts are a great way to develop strength, power and speed as well as a good anaerobic conditioning tool.

At Wake Barbell we believe that “If better is possible, good is not enough” and so if your life is a model of this or you want your life to be a model of this, then this is the place for you!

Powerlifting/ Olympic Weightlifting/ Hybrid Training


If you are the kind of person that likes a sport or style of training that demands you to move maximal loads, move a bar as quickly as possible while moving yourself into position to catch that bar, or you desire the best of both worlds along with some bodybuilding thrown in, these are the programs for you.

Powerlifting is all about the bench, squat and deadlift. There is no hiding in this sport or training method. You can either lift the weight or you can’t. The goal of this program is to teach the athlete the proper methods for each lift so as to maximize potential in each lift as well add accessory work to compliment the main lifts.

Olympic Weightlifting is all about the Snatch and Clean and Jerk. As with powerlifting,  there is no hiding in this sport or training method. You can either execute the snatch and clean and jerk for a good lift or you can’t. In contrast, weightlifting is a highly technical sport and therefore requires a lot a patience, attention to detail and positional strength. In this program, you will learn the fundamentals of the snatch and clean and jerk as well accessory movements to develop positioning strength, mobility and flexibility to perform the lifts with precision and confidence. If your desire is to move heavy weight quickly, then this is the sport or training method for you.

Hybrid Training is about blending Powerlifting, Weightlifting, and Bodybuilding all into one program to help develop a well rounded, powerful, lean athlete that can move heavy loads, move heavy loads fast and have a jacked physique in the process. It’s the whole have your cake and eat it too program.
